Most people who coach this only ever stood on one side of it. I ran my company chasing every opportunity in sight, and I ran it trying to keep all that chasing from breaking everything behind the scenes. Same company. Two completely different jobs. For a long stretch, I was doing both alone, which is its own kind of slow motion mistake.
That’s not something I picked up in a course. It’s more Tuesdays than I’d like to admit. I’m also a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, for founders already thinking about their eventual exit, and I teach a bit of this at Rice University when they’ll have me.
